Asian religions as practised in many Asian countries often have a dominant theme but then incorporate elements from other cultures,religions and practices to create a sort of spiritual “pick and mix”  marketplace. This can sometimes seem bizarre and dissonant TO a western mind. For instance in Thailand a country which is predominately Buddhist – they have incorporated elements from animism, ancestor worship and Hindu deities into their public spaces and shrines. Each god or image represents a different aspect sought by the supplicant.
